Fyda Freightliner HISTORY
Upon returning from active duty with the United States Air Force, Walter F. Fyda founded and incorporated The Fyda White Truck Co. on October 19, 1954. The company started with a staff of six employees who were responsible for selling and servicing White trucks in the Youngstown and Warren, Ohio areas.
Bob Fyda, Walter’s son, completed a stint in the U.S. Air Force and began working at the company in 1974. After gaining experience working in all facets of the business, Bob became President in 1977. A decade later, Walter’s son Tim Fyda joined the company after serving eight years in the U.S. Air Force. Tim worked as the general manager of the Columbus operation until 1997, when he was named president of the corporation.
Today, Fyda Freightliner is a nationally-recognized, award-winning commercial truck dealership network serving a wide area across the Midwest, which continues to grow as new Fyda dealerships open and territory expands.

2022: Fyda Freightliner Columbus becomes an authorized Isuzu sales, parts and service dealer
2022: Fyda Freightliner Columbus adds Western Star trucks to its sales line-up
2022: Fyda Freightliner Columbus and Fyda Freightliner Cincinnati, Inc. acquire Buckeye Western Star and Yard Trucks of Ohio and begin to offer sales, rentals, service and parts for Kalmar Ottawa yard trucks
2022: Fyda Freightliner Columbus becomes a SelecTrucks dealership
2022: Fyda Freightliner Columbus relocates its five buildings in Hilliard, OH to one 180,000 square-foot location in West Jefferson, OH
2019 : Fyda Freightliner dealer family becomes 100% Elite Support Certified for Walton, Cincinnati, Columbus, Zanesville, Youngstown, Pittsburgh and Barkeyville
2019 : Fyda Freightliner Columbus becomes an authorized dealer for Battle Motors (formerly Crane Carrier Co.) severe-duty vocational chassis; territory covering nearly all of the Fyda Freightliner dealer family AOR
2018 : Fyda Isuzu Trucks (at Fyda Freightliner Western Star of Northern Kentucky) becomes an authorized dealer for Isuzu Commercial Trucks
2017 : Fyda Freightliner Western Star of Northern Kentucky opens for business in Walton, Kentucky on July 31 and becomes the first Fyda dealership in Kentucky
2016 : Ground breaks for the new Fyda Freightliner Western Star of Northern Kentucky dealership to be located in Walton, Kentucky
2016 : Fyda Freightliner Western Star Zanesville opens for business in Zanesville, Ohio and becomes the parts department hub due to its central location to all Fyda Freightliner dealerships
2016 : Fyda Freightliner Columbus expands dealership campus with the opening of a new Used Truck and Expediter Sales building and inventory lot
2007 : The Daimler Trucks North America “Bob Fyda” Finish First Tuition Scholarship Fund is established with UTI Foundation to provide tuition assistance to students in the Diesel Technician Program
2007 : Fyda Freightliner is named Freightliner's #1 Dealer Nationwide (based on criteria that included aftermarket customer support as measured by J.D. Power and Associates)
2005 : Business Week Magazine Truck Dealer of the Year Award
2005 : Pro Patia Award (Employers Support for the Guard and Reserve ESGR) and recognition for support of America’s Homeland Security
2005 : Fyda Freightliner Barkeyville opens for business in Harrisville, Pennsylvania
2004 : Fyda celebrates the company’s 50th Anniversary
2000 : Territory expands to Cincinnati, Ohio with the opening of Fyda Freightliner Cincinnati, Inc.
1999 : Mercedes Benz Credit Corp. Dealer Excellence Award
1997 : Freightliner Dealer of the Decade Award (Freightliner National Sales Meeting in Atlanta, GA)
1997 : Tim Fyda becomes President of Fyda Freightliner
1996 : National Franchise Used Truck Dealer of the Year Award (Truck Sales and Leasing Magazine and The Truck Blue Book)
1996 : Fyda Freightliner Pittsburgh, Inc. opens for business, with the dealership located today in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania
1993 : American Truck Dealer Assoc./Business Week Magazine Dealer of the Year Award (American Truck Dealers Convention in Washington, DC)
1990 : The Fyda White Truck Co. becomes Fyda Freightliner; Youngstown and Columbus dealerships become Fyda Freightliner Youngstown, Inc. and Fyda Freightliner Columbus, Inc.
1987 : Tim Fyda joins the company as General Manager of the Columbus dealership
1985 : Fyda receives approval to take over AOR centered around Columbus, Ohio
1977 : Bob Fyda becomes President of the company
